Grace seeks to serve those living in Nashville. We look for strategic areas and partners in the city for the purpose of advancing the gospel, and we encourage our members to get involved in the ministry opportunities we have identified below.
Serve Nashville
Tusculum Elementary School
Many communities around our city are welcoming people from all over the world, including the area zoned for Tusculum Elementary School. We want to walk alongside the children, adults, and teachers who go to school, live, and work in the Tusculum area. The Bible calls us to be lights in the world and we feel this is a great place to shine the light of Christ. To be involved in one of the roles below, please contact Peggy Reilley.
Reading Partners
A reading clinic volunteer will serve weekly in the classroom helping children learn to read better. Each volunteer will be trained in ways to help in this role. Many children need extra one-to-one help in their reading, and volunteers play an important role in helping these kids progress in this skill. Volunteers will need to be approved through Metro School and undergo a reading partner training from a Metro School system employee.
Kindergarten Classroom Helper
This volunteer could serve on a regular basis working one on one with kindergarten students as the teachers see needs arise. This volunteer could also help serve on different projects to help the kindergarten teachers such as with the 100th day of school activities or sorting weekly magazines used in the classroom. Volunteers will need to undergo approval through the Metro School system.
Event Volunteer
Throughout the year Tusculum Elementary needs help with various one-time events (book fair, test proctoring, first day of school helpers, parent night, teacher appreciation, etc.). These events help serve the students and teachers in various ways. Volunteers must be approved through Metro Schools system.
Families in Crisis
Throughout Nashville families are experiencing struggle, pain, and hardship. We have a desire at Grace to walk alongside organizations to bring hope to families like these. We want to help children who are in the foster system, families seeking to foster or adopt, or parents who need community so they can move forward as a family. We see the church being an intricate part in bringing hope to families in crisis both through the gospel and our example.
Project Connect
Project Connect’s focus is to build relationships with individuals who are stuck in the cycle of poverty and connect them to the faith community. They provide knowledge, skills and encouragement through relationships and point them to the church that will walk with them throughout life’s joys and struggles.
Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes
TBCH provides Christ-centered homes for children in hard places across Tennessee through compassionate on-campus homes and foster families.
Engaging the Nations of Nashville
Nashville’s population is ever changing. In fact, many mission agencies say that America is fourth on the list with the most unreached people groups. This means that America contains many groups of people from all over the world who are less than two percent Christian. Many communities around our city are welcoming people from all over the world. Many of these people are new to America and new to the gospel. We want to walk alongside the nations that live among us and be the church who shows hospitality to the outsider.
Siloam Health
Based on a strong belief that every person is an image-bearer of their creator, Siloam Health seeks to care, not just for the physical health of those we serve, but for their spiritual, emotional, and mental health as well.
International Leadership Coalition
ILC works with international leaders and pastors as well as the local church. In partnership together, they discover those who have a calling to ministry as well as bringing together leaders of all nations for the sake of the gospel.
