A catechism is a fancy word for a set of questions and answers about Bible doctrines. It is a simple, effective way to teach our children (and adults) the BIG truths of the gospel. Join us in 2025 as we jump into these questions and find out the truth that awaits us!
Week 26: June 30 – July 6
Question 26: What else does Christ’s death redeem? Every part of fallen creation.
Colossians 1:19–20
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
For the Parent’s Heart:
- Read Romans 8:20-22. What is Paul saying about creation?
- Read Colossians 1:18-20. How does the cross bring peace to heaven and earth?
- Read Revelation 21:1-5. When will this full restoration take place?
Ask Your Children:
- Have your children draw and color a picture of the earth. Then take a marker and scribble all over their drawing. Ask them how they feel about their picture being destroyed.
- Explain that this is what sin does to the whole earth, but God is going to redeem and remake the whole word when Jesus returns.
- Then have them remake their picture and hang them up as a reminder of God’s redemption through Jesus.
Reminders:
- Be sure to check out the playlists below or in the app for helpful songs that your family can listen to for help memorizing these questions and answers.
- How can you incorporate this question into your normal daily routine? Post it on a mirror in the bathroom, in the kitchen, or in the car where everyone can see it.
