A catechism is a fancy word for a set of questions and answers about Bible doctrines. It is a simple, effective way to teach our children (and adults) the BIG truths of the gospel. Join us in 2025 as we jump into these questions and find out the truth that awaits us!
Week 51: December 21 – 27
Question 51: Of what advantage to us is Christ’s ascension? Christ is now advocating for us in the presence of his Father and also sends us his Spirit.
Romans 8:34
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
For the Parent’s Heart:
- Read and meditate on Hebrews 7:22-8:6.
- What is Jesus doing at the right hand of God? (7:25)
- Why is His location important for His priesthood?
- How does this knowledge encourage your faith?
Ask Your Children:
- Where did Jesus go when He left earth?
- What is He doing right now?
- What is an advocate?
- Who did Jesus send to help us?
Reminders:
- Be sure to check out the playlists below or in the app for helpful songs that your family can listen to for help memorizing these questions and answers.
- How can you incorporate this question into your normal daily routine? Post it on a mirror in the bathroom, in the kitchen, or in the car where everyone can see it.
- Bedtime is a great opportunity to review this question and have discussions about it. If you have trouble remembering, set a reminder on your phone or ask your child to remind you to review this week’s question.
