Dec 11, 2012 Moving to Nashville Meant…
Moving to Nashville meant finding a church to attend. Within me was the knowledge I needed to attend, but I was determined to remain invisible. I was determined the church – people and leadership – would never betray me again. After trying several churches, a friend suggested Grace. I will never forget the first Sunday I came, and am amazed at what God has done since then.
I continued to come, watch, and listen and tried to remain invisible. God gently brought people into my life who modeled God’s grace and acceptance. He started changing my concept of who He is and who He wants to be in my life. As God was using Grace to teach me about His grace, He was also challenging me to accept the grace of people and risk letting Him build relationships in my life. After intense wrestling with God and with guidance of a counselor, I agreed to let God give me grace-filled relationships and to risk reaching out, even though it scared me and still does at times.
I am grateful for the leadership of Grace who model Biblical teachings and model welcoming individuals to find their own way to healing and stronger relationships with God. I am beyond grateful for the grace-filled friendships God has put in my life with individuals who accept me as I am. I am most grateful for a church that is human, yet responds with grace and strives as a whole to live and model lives of grace.
