With Christ Come All Things – Words of Grace Blog – November 2, 2020

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son (John 3:16). God did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all (Romans 8:32). Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15)!

Yes! God has given the greatest gift of all- Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.

But wait, there is more. Christ came with gifts (Ephesians 4:8). From the fullness of Christ, we have received grace upon grace (John 1:16). With Christ, God will graciously give us all things (Romans 8:32).

Christ is the sufficient gift of God. He is enough. And yet, he brings us gifts of grace to know and love him more.

Christians need to know and prayerfully meditate on all that comes with Christ. When we do, we grow in our knowledge of Christ, we deepen our gratitude for Christ, and we follow him more faithfully and with greater joy.

This Sunday at Grace, we will begin a six-week series on all that comes with Christ. Each week we will consider a gracious gift of God that comes to us when we receive Christ. In a way, we are beginning the Christmas season sermon series a bit early. But it’s 2020, so why not?

This weekend, take some time to consider Christ and all that comes with him.

With Christ comes the forgiveness of sins (John 1:29).

With Christ comes the way to the Father (John 14:6).

With Christ comes fullness of soul from the indwelling Holy Spirit (John 7:37).

With Christ comes a family of faith to love and serve (John 13).

With Christ comes a life of fruitfulness (John 15).

With Christ comes hope for the future (John 14Revelation 21-22).

With Christ come all things!

I am praying for you this weekend to know Christ and all his fullness. Will you pray for me as I prepare to preach?
