23 Mar Words of Grace – Watching
I have a terrible habit. Most mornings when I wake up, I grab my phone and look at yesterday’s news or the most recent Twitter feed. For me, looking at the news brings up a lot of different emotions: sadness, confusion, doubt, fear, anger, and the list could go on. We all watch and look at the world around us. We watch the people around us – friends, neighbors, family, and coworkers. How should we respond to them?
?Our responses to the world reflect a lot about our hearts. These responses reveal where our mind is focused and where we are placing our trust. I would love to be part of a church that sees the world, and the response is one of faith in God, and a heart to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that desperately needs to hear it.
Over the past few weeks, we have looked at Colossians 3 as a church. This passage is rich and deep. The text tells us how we are united with Christ, and how this miraculous union gives us a new way of thinking. Over the next few weeks, we will look at how this union flows into a new way living. How are we to live and interact with outsiders, those who have not believed in Christ?
Take time this weekend to read Colossians 4:2-6 and pray for our time together on Sunday. Ask God to give our church a healthy way to see the world and the people in it. May our response to the things in this world bring glory to God and draw people to himself.
