Words of Grace – Watch and Pray

Words of Grace – Watch and Pray

What a morning. I watched the riots in Baltimore, the devastation in Nepal, and a report on the Supreme Court arguments on same-sex marriage. I was reminded that Jesus told us to “watch and pray” (Mark 14:38).

Today, watch. Watch the news reports, read your news apps. Know what’s happening in the world. But also, watch what’s happening in your world, your heart, your family, with your neighbor, at your job, and in our community and city. Look, listen, and think about the world in relation to the kingdom and will of God.

Today, pray. As you watch, be praying as Jesus said to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

Pray for peace, justice, and spiritual awakening in Baltimore and the rest of our country.

Pray for the rescue and relief efforts in Nepal and for a great gospel witness in this lost land.

Pray for the Supreme Court justices to be swayed by the Spirit and truth of God for the common good of our nation.

Pray for your world.
