Oct 24, 2014 Words of Grace – Extending Grace for God’s Glory
“For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.”
– 2 Corinthians 4:15
This verse is a massive reminder of what God is really doing in our lives and in our church. With a bit of expounding and applying at the same time, we could rephrase the verse this way:
Everything God is doing for, in, and through us is for the good of other people. He is doing his work in our lives and church so that his grace may deepen its roots in us and extend its branches from us to more and more people. God’s grace in Christ Jesus reaches and captures an ever-growing number of people who come to faith in him and, as a result, gives increasing thanksgiving to him. Great and growing amounts of thanksgiving to God glorify him. There is no more satisfying, hope giving, and happy event in the world than for God to be glorified.
This Sunday at Grace, we will take up this theme and hold it before us for the next month. Our focus in November will be on our church’s ministry in the world for the sake of others, the reach of grace, the increase of thanksgiving, and the glory of God.
Along with preparing your heart for Sunday worship, would you pray with me this weekend for the women of Grace who will be on a retreat Friday and Saturday? Thank you.
