Nov 12, 2013 Words of Grace – Shine the Light of Christ
This past Sunday at Grace, we talked about the windows through which the light of Christ shines out of our lives to others (see Matthew 5:14-16). These windows include being, doing, and speaking. Being is the window of our character being transformed by the power of Christ. Doing is the window of service to others motivated by the love of Christ. Speaking is the window of proclaiming the gospel of Christ. Pray that God will use all three windows of your life to shine the light of Christ.
Another helpful paradigm for letting the light shine is “love, respond, share, and remain.” As we love people genuinely, we will usually become aware of some need they have. As we respond to that need with prayer, practical help, or a word of hope, we will often have an opportunity to share the gospel. Because we love people, we will remain in friendship with them after we share the gospel, helping them continue to process the gospel or to grow as a new Christian. Pray that God will enable you to love, respond, share, and remain with others.
This week I read a great article on letting the light of Christ shine in the workplace. I hope it is helpful to you.
