Jan 22, 2013 Same Team, Same Hope…
Our story of grace at Grace started when we first visited downstairs at Belmont, the last week before the services moved upstairs to the “rafters.” Since then, it has been an amazing journey. Both of our boys became believers and were baptized at Grace – actually, they were baptized in Joel and Patty’s pool! They were discipled and loved by people who showed them how to follow Jesus and live in the real world (all without the programming we were nervous about leaving at our previous church).
We have experienced what the body of Christ really looks like expressed to us during times of great personal struggle and failure, without gossip or condemnation, by people walking with us through restoration. We were overwhelmed by the generosity towards us when Bill lost his job and was without regular work for 15 months. We have sat under some of the greatest preaching and teaching from regular people without pretense who just want to serve the Lord and be faithful to His Word. We have been brought into the presence of God through worship music that is sung to Him and not as a performance. Our faith has been challenged by the atmosphere of outreach, people who go around the world or quietly minister at GCC or in Nashville. What a gift to be part of a church, not a building or a program or a cast of performers, but a group of people on the same team with the same hope.
