Dec 21, 2012 I Will Change Your Name…
Newly married with three boys under 3 years old, we came to GCC needing grace without even knowing it. Each Sunday, I cried tears of exhaustion and bewilderment at what our family life was. It was a process; God was chipping away at my false expectations and tearing down the facade that I had worked so hard to create. I just love that I can say I’m in a new place now. This is Grace and it is a testimony that grace has been shown to me.
There are many specific stories I could share that have gotten me through deep depression (which I still often struggle with). But the fact that I can say it no longer defines me is Grace and evidence of grace shown to me through you, the church of GCC. The song we sing called “I Will Change Your Name” has really prompted meditation on who I truly am in Christ:
“I will change your name,
You shall no longer be called,
Wounded, outcast, lonely or afraid.
I will change your name
Your new name will be
Confidence, joyfulness, overcoming one,
Faithfulness, friend of God,
One who seeks My face.”
