The Gift and Responsibility of Children

The Gift and Responsibility of Children

God has given us the gift of 250 children at Grace Community Church. That’s 250 souls, created in the image of God, carried in the womb by their mothers, placed in families who love them, and put under the care of this congregation. What a gift. Lord willing, more gifts are coming as families give birth, adopt, and join our church.

God has given us the responsibility of 250 children at Grace Community Church. That’s 250 souls, created for God’s glory, in need of a Savior, brought to church each week, placed in classrooms where God’s word is taught to them, and nurtured in the faith by this congregation. What a responsibility. Lord willing, we will take up this responsibility and raise up the next generation of Christ-loving Christians.

Each Sunday morning 100 volunteers teach, love, and care for these children. As we approach the beginning of the new Sunday School year (August 15), some of these volunteers will not be returning to their classes. They have served well, and now they will attend an adult Sunday School class. That means others in our church will need to volunteer in their place.

This Sunday, 23 people at Grace need to sign up to volunteer to work in children’s Sunday School for the fall. There will be a volunteer sheet in the worship bulletin with the opportunities to serve that are still available.

Thanks to all of you who serve our children and our church so well. Let us continue to receive the gift, take up the responsibility, and see the glory of God in our children.
