Be Holy – 1 Peter 1:13-21 – February 19, 2023

Holiness is a beautiful word. Applied to God, it refers to the perfection of all his attributes combined into a single description of his nature. God is holy. Since all of God’s attributes are perfectly good, his holiness is beautiful. How does holiness apply to us? By God’s mercy we have been born again to a living hope. Our hope is that God will make us holy. God is progressively purifying our faith and transforming our character to be like his Son Jesus Christ. In this sense, we are becoming holy. We, spiritually alive sojourners on this earth who have set our hope on the grace to God in Christ, are to be holy. Today we consider the call to be holy, why we are to pursue holiness, and how we become more and more holy until we meet the Lord.

Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God’s grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.
