Mar 14, 2012 Words of Grace – God’s Deep Love
Recently I heard someone say, “There is no pit so deep that you can’t climb out.” When I heard those words I immediately remembered another quote from Betsy ten Boom, who, with her sister Corrie, endured the evils of a Nazi prison camp for their obedient love and daring assistance to their Jewish friends in Holland. She said, “There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”
The ten Boom sisters knew that God sent his Son Jesus to the pit for their sake. In their pit they found the love of God for them in Christ, and with him the strength to love their enemies.
I wonder, what do we think the gospel is? Climbing out of the pit by the strength of our will, or finding in the pit the love of God in Christ and taking hold of him by faith?
