Jul 07, 2016 Missions at Grace – Summer Opportunities
This summer we have several mission opportunities for all ages and stages of life. Click the contact or website links below to learn more and to volunteer.
Prayer Opportunities
– Next Monday, July 11, at 6:30pm, David & Jenna Ray will host a Missions Prayer Gathering in their home to pray for our global missions partners. Contact: Jenna Ray
– From July 12-17, 32 high school students and 5 adults from Grace will serve alongside South Durham Church in Durham, North Carolina. They will host a soccer camp and participate in other activities for low-income children. Pray for the team, the Durham church, and the families who will be impacted by this outreach.
Local Partner Opportunities
– You can support Grace’s partnership with Tusculum Elementary School by donating items to Thrift Smart on Nolensville Road. Go in the store, weigh your donated items, and enter the total pounds in the Tusculum notebook. For every pound donated, the school will receive gifts cards to buy needed items.
– The date for the summer work day at Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home was changed to this Friday, July 8. Volunteers will help with various clean up and maintenance jobs around TBCH’s Brentwood campus. Contact: Jeff McGinnis
– Over 500 volunteers of all ages are needed for a video shoot for Tennessee Baptist Children Home on Monday, July 18, from 9:00-11:30am. Individuals and families are welcome to participate. Contact: Vicki Howell
Other Opportunities
– Nearly 1,000 international students will come to Nashville this fall. You can sign up now for First Friends, an outreach of befriending these students and introducing them to our community. You can also host 2-4 international students from Vanderbilt for an EAT (Experience American Tastes) dinner during the academic year. Contact: Kay Eaves
– World Relief has an ongoing need for host homes for refugees arriving in Nashville. The refugee families need short-term housing for several days up to 4 weeks. World Relief will provide an interview to see if this ministry is a good fit for you, and they can address any security or medical screening concerns you may have about hosting refugees. Contact: Winter Liscano (or 615-833-7735)
– A “Reaching the Nations” missions event will be held August 26-27 at Brentwood Baptist Church. Attendees will be equipped with practical tools for engaging immigrants, refugees, and international students with the gospel for disciple making. Tickets are $35 and scholarships are available.
