Jun 30, 2015 Words of Grace – Christians Engaging in the Political Process
It has been said that church and politics don’t mix. There is some truth to that statement. Churches are not citizens. They don’t vote, run for office, or serve on school boards or city councils. Churches are not political action committees. They don’t endorse or fundraise for political parties and candidates.
But, churches do make disciples. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we use every opportunity we have to bring glory to God. As citizens of the United States of America, we have the opportunity to be involved in the political process. So, discipleship and political involvement do mix.
To be faithful disciples of Jesus with our political opportunities takes prayer, an understanding of the gospel and the teaching of the Bible, and helpful thinking and conversation with others.
That’s what we hope to provide this Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30pm, in the Chapel. I will interview Marshall Albritton and Russell Moore on the topic of “Christians Engaging in the Political Process.” We will also have time for Q&A with those who attend.
Childcare for Infants-5th Grade will be provided for this event. Register your child(ren) by emailing Annie Carter.
I hope to see you Wednesday evening.
