Your Weekend Prayers – Words of Grace Blog – March 20, 2026

It’s been a while since I have written a Your Weekend Prayer version of Words of Grace. I decided to do so today because I have found myself praying this week while working on the sermon for Sunday. So why not ask you to join me in prayer?

Acts 11:19-30 is a passage about the birth and growth of the church in Antioch. This will be our sermon passage on Sunday. This weekend, read it and pray with me for the five new works done by the hand of the Lord.

New Converts (verse 21). We know that no one turns to Jesus Christ in faith unless the Lord draws them. We also know that the Lord drew us to Christ. So humbly and boldly ask God to convert many people through the preaching of the gospel. Pray for your family members and friends. Pray for the gospel to be proclaimed in the Good Friday and Easter services of the churches in our city.

New Church (verse 26). The Lord gathered the converts in Antioch into a church. Two great prayers flow from God’s work. First, pray for new churches to form all over the world where new converts are coming to faith in Jesus. Second, pray for Christians you know who are not meeting with the church that the Lord will convict them and they will return to their congregations.

New Way (verse 26). The new converts in the new church were taught the new way of Christ. Grace Community Church teaches the Bible because it is the word of God revealing the truth of Jesus Christ and how we walk in him. Pray for the teaching that goes on at Grace each week and for the discussions that happen in groups. Pray that we will walk in the way of truth.

New Name (verse 26). Because the church walked in the way of Christ and the new converts lived like Christ, the community around them called them Christians. May the grace of the Lord transform us to walk worthy of the Name.

New Love (verses 27-30). New Gentile believers in Jesus came to see their Jewish brothers and sisters as ones to bless and love. They cared for them by sending relief for an impending famine. Pray for our love to grow evermore as we know more deeply the love of God for us in Christ.

In your quiet time, on your walk, as you go about your day, call out to God for these things.

See you Sunday,
