Though the temperature reminds us that we are in the middle of summer, the first week of August marks the beginning of the fall season of ministry at Grace Community Church. Let’s take the weekend to pray for a deep work of grace by the Spirit of God among us. His work in us will surely lead to our witness for Christ in the world.
Here are two big weekend prayers for us to pray.
Pray for the Word of Christ to dwell richly among us. When we gather every Sunday at Grace, the Bible is taught, and Christ is our message. As the Holy Spirit uses the Word to convict, correct, teach, and train us, we are transformed into the image of Christ.
Let’s pray for this.
Praying for the ministry of the Word among us brings a response from God, builds our anticipation, and deepens our responsiveness to the Word. Pray before, during, and after we hear the Word each week.
Classes, small groups, conversations, and sermons at Grace are from the Bible. We believe in the Bible because we believe it is God’s Word. So, let’s pray for its power to be experienced among us.
The Word of God is for every person at every age. Pray for teachers and discussion leaders in every ministry of Grace to be filled with the Spirit.
May the Lord be gracious to open our eyes to behold wonderful things from his Word, and to transform us by renewing us in it this fall.
Pray for the Word of Christ to go unhindered from us. Where the Word dwells richly, it resounds clearly and with great joy.
People need Christ. They will get him when they hear his Word with faith. They will hear his Word and believe when someone shares it. How beautiful are those who do.
Reading the book of Acts this week stirred my heart to pray for the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ to go forth boldly and unhindered (Acts 28:31). Whether the Word is proclaimed in written or verbal form, read in the Bible, or heard from someone, it has the power to save. Our prayer is for both the proclamation and reception of the Word of Christ.
May the Lord be gracious to bless every mention of Christ and his Word from our congregation this fall.
