Feb 07, 2011 Missions, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and Grace Community Church

The great work of Christian missions is to present Jesus Christ as Lord
to the world and to call all people to willingly, lovingly, and savingly
confess Him as such.
Philippians 2:10 envisions a day when “every knee will bow, of those who
are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
This day is the day of Christ’s return, and the confession made on that
day will be inescapable, for all will see Him for who He is- God’s Son
and the Savior of the world. But the confession made on that day will
not lead to salvation because it will not be made in faith by one
trusting in Christ alone for forgiveness of sin.
The days leading to that great day are the opportunity to confess Jesus
as Lord for salvation. These are also the days the followers of Jesus
are to present Him to the world in word and deed, that people may hear
of Him and call on Him in faith.
At Grace Community Church we seek to participate in this great mission
work in Nashville and around the world. Each February we renew our
commitment to missions through prayer, awareness, opportunities, and our
annual missions offering. After the February Missions Month, we spend
the next year doing deeds of mercy, proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord,
and partnering with others who are doing the same.
We hope you will join us for a special missions evening on Sunday,
February 23. We will host a missions fair with booths representing many
of the mission partnerships and activities we are involved in. After
the missions fair, we will hear from Andy Leininger, missionary in
Belarus, during our worship service. Also, on that evening we will make
our individual pledges toward the Grace Missions Offering. Mission
offering brochures will be available on Sunday evenings beginning
February 9.
Our hope is that each day, men and women around the world will hear the
message of Jesus Christ and embrace Him as Lord.
