A Breath Of Fresh Air…

A Breath Of Fresh Air…

There are some decisions in life that you have to pray and ask God what His will is. Then there are some decisions that He just confirms in your spirit and you know what His will is. And that was the way it was when Paul and I first heard that there was going to be a Grace Community Church. Oh, we prayed, but we just knew…

We started attending on the very first “official” Sunday with our sons, Paul Edward and Brian. We loved it and we grew in our faith through the consistent preaching of God’s Word and worship through songs filled with that same truth. We also really learned what it meant to be in community with God’s people. And oh, how important that became in March of 1996 when our 16-year-old son, Brian, was in a head-on collision while he was on his way to Community Group and died 24 hours later. During those hours, it was something to behold and experience how the community of believers gathered at the hospital to be with us, cry with us, grieve with us and provided for our every need! And it didn’t stop there as months turned into years. March rolled around and several people would say to us, “We are thinking about you and praying for you.” God knew where we needed to be while going through that trial, and I am so thankful He did! I remember a friend from another church was at the hospital during those hours after the accident and when she saw the love and care that our Grace friends were giving, she said, “I have never seen anything like it.” What a testimony Grace was to her and so many others.

It has been a blessing to be a part of Grace for the last 20 years! Even after all this time I can still say, “Coming to Grace is like a breath of fresh air.” Thanks be to God!!
