Dec 26, 2012 Renewed and Refreshed…
We were disillusioned with church after some hurtful experiences. But at a friend’s suggestion, we began attending the evening service at Grace Community Church about four years ago. Wow – Grace was different. There was no choir up front! Lots of congregational singing, with a mix of traditional and contemporary songs. Also, the sermons made me (a Christian for many years) sit upright in my seat and focus on every word, because each word was essential.
During this time, our home was flooded. Although we were just regular visitors, the members of Grace responded immediately to our needs with great kindness and generosity. We had always been the ones to help others, so it was a new experience of grace to be on the receiving end. Through the faithful leadership and teaching and kindness of people at Grace our wounds began to heal, and earlier this year we became members.
At Grace I have received God’s love, grace, and guidance in unexpected ways. My hope is renewed and my soul is refreshed. God’s grace continues to be greater than anything I could have ever imagined.
