Grace Came to Us…

Grace Came to Us…

Grace came to us before we ever came to Grace. I met my husband in 2002 at a meeting in Hvar, Croatia. At that meeting, Scott Patty was the guest preacher for the week, and a team from GCC led our worship times. Four years later when we were newly dating, Rob moved back to Nashville and suggested, “Remember that church that led our AGM? I think it’s here – we should visit.” We first visited Grace Community Church in the fall of 2006 and it seemed so familiar, so comfortable. We weren’t looking for a new church home, and yet, we were married there the next summer and are now raising our children there.

We have experienced God’s grace in so many ways over the past few years because of Grace Community Church. One of the most memorable expressions of that grace came in the days following the Nashville flood of 2010. Although our home was spared, half of our community group literally found their homes or businesses under water. Our home became “command central” for GCC in Bellevue. We began leaving the door unlocked as people steadily streamed in and out, delivering meals, bottled water, ice, and supplies, and weary volunteers came in to take a break from clean-up and demolition to eat and sit in the air conditioning for a few minutes. It was a blessing to watch God’s grace in action. At a time when everything seemed so chaotic, Grace was constant peace and love.
