Dec 13, 2012 I Never Imagined…
I never imagined I would be a “founding member” of anything, especially a church! Grace Community Church started off meeting in my living room. I knew Scott and Beth and the girls when Scott was a Youth Pastor at Park Avenue Baptist Church. A season of prayer and fasting led to a huge change in my life, which was being a part of launching a church from its very first Sunday. In those early days, we would serve coffee and donuts on a wooden board that was laid across a pool table in the Belmont Campus Ministries Building (which no longer exists)! Baptisms in swimming pools, community groups all over the city, setting up church in school buildings and tearing it all down after church. Crazy, wonderful days that mean so much to me. I had the privilege of being the worship leader and missions leader at Grace for several years. Later on, a very tall guy who had attended Grace as a college student (Jeff Bourque!) came back to take my job when I stayed at home after having a baby. I cannot believe it’s been 20 years. I’m not old enough for that to be true (sigh). Thank You, God, for such a rich heritage. Here’s to the next 20 years.
