Kids in Community
Read below for more information about our ministry to children in the context of Community Groups.
What is Kids in Community?
Kids in Community (KIC) is a structured time of singing, praying and learning God’s Word for infants through 5th graders that occurs in each Community Group.
Why do we offer Kids in Community?
We believe that children learn to be disciples by interacting with other adults and children who are growing in their faith. Kids in Community is a great way for children to get to know other families, singles, and peers who are being impacted by the gospel. They are able to build relationships, see God answer prayer, learn more of God’s word, and practice serving others. This is vital during these foundational years.
How does Kids in Community function?
The children meet in another part of the host home while the adults meet. The kids are led by a combination of adults from the group and paid workers. We ask adults within each group to join a KIC volunteer rotation. This allows the kids an opportunity to interact with all the adults in a group and the adults to invest in the children. We ask each adult who is a member of Grace Community Church or has been attending for at least six months to enter this rotation. Generally, each adult will volunteer twice per semester.
What occurs during Kids in Community?
The activities for children vary based upon age. We divide the children into groups based on age. Each group has its own curriculum. Click here to access weekly KIC materials.
